I’m a sex worker and activist with experience in the legal Nevada brothel system, exotic dancing, and webcam. Being a very active person, I enjoy various types of exercise, such as tai chi, aerobics, yoga, hiking, and belly dancing. Perhaps my favorite exercise is the beautiful art of pole dancing! It’s such a skill and talent.
I’m also an outdoors lover and an avid recycler. As you can guess by my name, I’m a vegan. I became a vegan because of concerns for animal rights, health, and the environment…each of which is very important to me.
There’s a side of me who’s very serious and intellectual. Yet, there’s also a side of me who loves to let loose, be carefree, and have fun!
Very informative, thank you. I’ve been blogging on and off for almost 3 years, but have never had much of a focus – I tend to just write about whatever is on my mind when I feel like writing.
Cheers!
I look forward to reading more from you. I have worked webcams, am trying phone work now and maybe someday, if the brothels ever approve of having a trans work (pre op) in a brothel I want to apply.
I support you, kynthiaalice. Trans sex workers should have every bit as much right to work legally as cis sex workers. That’s one of many reasons why I advocate for decriminalization, because it will expand the ways sex workers can work legally.
Fantastic writing, Vegan Vixen.
Thank you, anappleofdiscord! I really like your blog too, very well-written and well-thought out. I appreciate how you address different types of feminist theories in depth.
Hi – I found your blog via reddit.com’s “sex work” category – thank you for your “Sex Work is Real Work” post. I’m havent read through the rest yet but am vegan + a sex worker also and am giving you an e-highfive
Thank you, Elizabeth. Vegan sex workers rock!
I love what you are doing and the bridges you are building. I enjoy your writing style and the issues you touch. I am also building bridges to people for health, animals, and the environment as a vegan. I hope you will visit my blog or Facebook page…I would love to have you be a part.
Thank you, Paul. I visited your blog and enjoyed the photos of vegan food. Looks really yummy!
Hello,
I found your wonderful and informative blog and browsed through it a bit. Having done so, I’m a bit curious about sex industry work in general but being a resident of the US, of course, I am specifically curious about sex work here in the US. I started webcamming very recently and am scheduled to go work at a brothel come June. I’m wondering if you have any input about the differences in the brothels throughout Nevada, whether you had better experiences in some over others. I know the experience is something very difficult to either quantify or qualify but if you have any input, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ll be working at the larger one in Pahrump. Just wondering if you have any experience there. Also, do you think the current economic climate of the US has effected the legal brothels in Nevada?
-Thanks,
Lillith
Hi Lillith:
I posted this blog entry about working in Nevada brothels, which may answer your questions about differences between brothels: http://veganvixen1.wordpress.com/2011/10/08/working-at-nevada-brothels-qa/ . Please let me know if you have anymore questions and if you wish to share your experiences of working in a brothel, I’d be very interested.
I think that the current economic climate has affected the brothels in Nevada. Years ago when the economy was booming, it was really busy for me at a small rural brothel I worked at. It doesn’t seem as busy anymore.
My previous three brothel trips were to a house in Pahrump that I really liked. The sex workers and supportive staff are kind, supportive, and enjoyable to be around.
Business there has been very up and down for me, though. One of the trips was among my busiest ever to any brothel; one was “so and so”, and one was my slowest ever.
